Antibiotics never seem to work for me so I no longer use them for sinus infections. I'm a firm believer in the less antibiotics the better. One trick my allergist told me is to use a small amount of Bacitracin, which is basically a topical antibiotic, in each nostril. Also, keep up with the nasal irrigation it really helps and do it twice at least twice a day until your infection is gone.
I don't use the Neti pot, I just dissolve about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water and use a bulb syringe (like the type they use on babies) and gently squeeze the solution into each nostril twice while leaning over the sink. I never get any down my throat. Maybe this method would work better for you. |
