Joey's breeder recommended free feeding, and they eat when they are hungry, so they don't go all day without eating. Their tummies are tiny, and frequent small meals are best to prevent hypoglycemia, Nutri-cal which is really just corn syrup which is sugar, and is given to treat hypoglycemia, not to prevent it. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, so giving sugar improves the condition temporary, but unless protein is also given too much insulin can be produced, and another attack of hypoglycemia will result.
