hm, I would find a spot that is higher than he can jump and put the cat food up there. I wouldn't feed him in the middle of the night. it isn't good if you're trying to train him to be on a certain schedule. I keep food out 24/7 and mine eat when they want but then again, they are doggie door trained and go outside to poopie. I'm not big help in the training area but maybe someone can give you better advice.
