Was your pet very lethargic after? Yes. Ellie could barely stand the night of her spay.
Do I need to put any anti-biotics on her stitches? You may have to give oral antibiotics. I did not. She shouldn't need anything on her incision unless there is a problem. I had to use neosporin on Ellie's.
Should I or should I not carry her to help her get into/out of bed? You can carry her if you want to. She should absoluely not jump while she is recovering. If she is too active, she may get an abscess or need to be restitched.
How long until I can bathe and walk her again? You can bathe her when the stitches come out unless the vet says otherwise. Two minute potty walks are probably okay the next day but no long walks for at least 7-10 days depending on your vet.
Any advice would help! Thanks! |
I would insist on pain meds.
Isoflurane or possibly sevoflurane anesthesia should be used for maintenance.
Surgery should be done on a heated surface.
She should have an IV.
Preop blood work should be done.
She should be just fine.
