Of course people are approaching us because we are in the store with two simply adorable yorkies.
One lady approaches us and asked the other lady if her dog is a Yorkie or a Silky, she answers it is a Yorkie. Then she proceeds to say and I quote, "You see these little yorkies all around here but really they are suppossed to be 12-16 pounds. My yorkie is a true yorkie" She says this while I am still standing right next to her with my "little yorkie"!!! How rude! As if to say my dog is any less a Yorkshire Terrier than hers!
And, if I am not mistaken, the breed standard says 4-7 pounds or maybe 3-6 pounds I forget, but I know it wasn't over that because they say Yorkies are the smallest in the toy breed.
Cant we all just love our Yorkies? Why the weight wars. I dont care if your Yorkie is a handful or hes so big he cant fit on your lap correctly, as long as he is healthy and happy he should be loved by everyone
Okay thanks for letting me vent.... |
I agree!
I always kind of head people off before I bring Rory out of the carrier. They'll ask me what kind of dog she is and when they hear yorkie they want to see her! Anyways, I always say she's a big one though - they joke when I pull her out of the carrier she keeps coming and coming. I don't really mind though - it's all relative (I had a 135 bullmastiff) - the girls always want to hold her and pet her while I shop. Some even tell me to let her run around the store!

I've always found the more high end the store is the more accepting they seem of animals - I could be dreaming though. I don't think twice of walking Rory into Neiman's, but somewhere like Old Navy I'd worry I'd get kicked out...
