I have a Betta too! I just got him like a week ago and he looks like yours. He is dark blue and his tail has hints of green in it when seen in the light. I know he's a boy cause i did the mirror test and sure enough he fluffed up. I named him Moonlight cause of his color. He has a lot of personality and loves swimming real fast. Thanks for the info on the bubbles. I was wondering about that cause mine makes a lot of those too. I also read they like warm water. I put him in warm water but it gets cold, i was wondering if i need a heater or if he's okay either way. I need to upload pics! Fizzy is a cute name!
