Thanks for the reply, Twalla.
Every so often I put him in his kennel when I'm cooking and need him to not be under foot, but he can hear me in the room so it never really escalates to more than a whine/whimper. My laptop is right near his kennel, so I will give this a try just to get him use to having the door shut anyway. Baby steps, right? lol For now I guess I'll just put a towel in there until we can work on getting him more calm/comfortable in his kennel and then perhaps he can be trusted with a new bed.
