Daisy's story... I wanted to share a little story about my Daisy and see if others have had the same thing happen with their yorkie.
When we made the decision to get Daisy we were told that she was born with a heart murmur. But after discussing this little puppy with her breeder in great length over the phone I decided to send my husband to meet her first as I know my weakness and with me it is hard to say no to any puppy. So My husband drove the hour plus to meet this tiny little girl. I knew he just was stronger at walking away if he felt he should...a few hours later he comes home with the cutes little fur ball that I had ever set my eyes on.
It was love at first sight...No kidding. We took her the next day to our vet and he did hear her heart murmur...We decided make an appointment with a cardiologist who told us that this was a murmur that had to be corrected with surgery once she grew to at least 2 pounds....time had past, vet visits came and went and we got her to the 2 pound mark. The vet told us he could not hear the murmur...I got excited...She out grew it I thought...So another appointment with the cardiologist...She gave us the grave news that Daisy would not make it past 2 or 3 weeks...We were told that one side of her heart was enlarging and un clean blood was passing thru it, she was no longer able to have the surgery and her heart would soon cause her to die...She suggested that we might consider putting her down... My heart sank...I could not think of the idea of not having Daisy....
My son who was 14 at the time said "Mom, lets take her home, enjoy every day that we have with her because that is that many more days that we do have with her". And that is what we did..We let her do everything that a little puppy loved to do..We never held her back....She ran and jumped and played...
4 years later my Daisy runs, she plays, and does what ever a little dog should!
Did her heart correct itself? I'll never know...Does the vet hear her murmur? No...Do we take her to that cardiologist?...No...
But what we still do....
we enjoy every day that we have with this little Yorkie.... |
