We generally have an artificial tree, but the branches were close to the floor. So, the first year after we got Sophie we bought a shorter version and put it on a table about two feet off the floor. It is a real nice tree and looked really good (in fact, a friend borrowed it last year when she had a puppy and loved it). Sophie couldn't reach it, and we still had a very pretty tree. The second year we went back to our regular tree, and she was old enough to not care at all.
