Welcome! Your Grace is adorable!! I think she full Yorkie. In fact our Boo is 10 1/2 lbs and I've heard of them getting as large as 20 lbs. All the more Yorkie to love!!
As for the nipping at other people, when does she do this? When they come into the home? When you are out with her? I'm sure you will get other advise, you could also post in the Training board. Annie was a rescue also, and could get quite worried around non-family members. When people came in, I'd have them come in and ignore her and just sit on the couch with some of her favorite treats. She'd see me give them to the person and it wasn't long before she'd approach them. They'd give her one or two and that was usually enough for her to calm down a little and actually get on the couch with them to eat the rest. When out in the public I was always sure that no one touched her without her knowing I was right there and "protecting" her. If she showed any signs of stress or discomfort I'd find a nice way to end and would move on. It took nearly a year for her to become at ease with strangers out in the public but once she did she was a great example of Yorkie love to all who meet her. |
