To calm him we have him sit and then lay down and stay. Luckily he learned those tricks before he went crazy
Once he's calm enough to lay down and stay he gets a treat and we start playing again.
We used to do the sweatshirt over hands and play with our other dog, she was a border collie mix and she LOVED it. I would do it with Walker, but he gets carried away and lunges at my face which is BIG nono. Sooo, we've found our own way.
