Unless there's somebody at the vet's office, I would insist on you taking her home...that way, if any complications arise, you'd be there to attend to her and take her to the emergency vet or notify your vet.
I have taken both of my babies home after their spay...and they were much better off because they were less stressed. The vet for my first baby didn't do overnight care, so I told them unless she got to go home with me...we weren't going to do it. So they let me be the exception and I took my baby home. My second one, since I moved---she has 24 hour service...so i was okay with her staying there, except she has separation anxiety. My baby was fine to go home---she was alert and everything... so... it was a good thing.

Good luck with the surgery and talk to your vet about your concerns...
I was crying when I had mine done---but it was for the best.
