Isoflurane or possibly sevoflurane should be used as maintenance anesthesia. She may need something else before so they can hook up the iso or sevo.
She should have an IV and surgery should be done on a heated surface. Preop blood work should be done also.
If there is nobody there with her, she should absolutely not stay alone after surgery. She will still be coming out of anesthesia and what if something goes wrong? What if she reacts to the pain meds? There are other things that can go wrong also. It is okay to let the vet watch them the first night but if nobody is there, I would not leave her.
Ellie's old vet office is open 24/7 with a vet there at all times.
Ellie didn't get out of her spay and liver biopsy surgery til about 3PM and we brought her home after 7 (could've had her at 6). She did just fine being at home but I did stay up all night with her (my decision...).
