We have/are teaching them not to get into people's faces, so that when a baby comes they don't try to be all in their face. Also we have two yorkies, so we try to give each one individual attention so that the other one gets used to someone else getting attention.

While they aren't babies, we do try to keep them around kids whenever we can.

I'm interested to see what everyone else will have to say
Thanks for the reply! I am lucky because Pepper ADORES kids, he always has, he's a people dog, not a 'dog dog' LOL. I used to work as a nanny when I got him and took him to work with me every day, he loved playing with the kids, and I think that helped him being a very lovable dog.. We have my teenage stepson living with us now, and he accepted a new human in the house instantly. Granted, the stepson is not craving Pepper's 'parents' attention as a baby would, so there's no jealousy there. But my dog is crazy about me, and wants attention, follows me everywhere (which kind of drives my husband crazy a little sometimes) - he IS a Mommy's Boy..
