Sometimes it's a mixed blessing. Your pup will learn to adapt to a new situation, which is great for him. The more challenges you give him, the more well-rounded he'll become.

And, while you'll miss him, you should take advantage of the independence too. As much as we love our dogs, we need "me time" too. This sounds like a terrific opportunity for you. You should embrace it with no regrets. (Oh, but keep lots of pics on your iPod!)
