LOL! Yes, it's very normal yorkie behavior. Actually, I've heard it's a common terrier trait in general. Gizmo also does it with food, treats, and cookies. Sometimes, I think he's just "burying" it to save it and sometimes I think it's just a game. He also has to play with his food before he eats it. He usually has to pick up a piece of food, throw it, chase it, kill it (pounce on it) and only THEN will he eat it or bury it.
So yes, it's very normal.
Have you experienced the zoomies yet? Where your yorkie suddenly gets all hyper and runs and runs (or hops) around the house? Usually in the evening and almost always after a bath? That's fun too.
