For non donating it is 50 by 50 pixels or 19.5 KB and donating members it is 125 by 125 pixels and 60 KB
The reason your avatar isn't working is because it is 128 by 96 pixels. If you shorten the longer lenght slightly then it will work because it is under the file size.
