New Member Hi:
We are owned by one 10 yr old female Yorkie and a 18 1/2 yr female Buff Cocker. Yes 18 1/2 years.
Angel was a Blackmail dog. We already had Buffy, the Cocker. On April 27th, 1998, our 8 yr old was hit by a car, hospitalized for 3 weeks and in what some call a body cast for another 5 weeks. She was suppose to try to walk with help of crutches but was afraid. Her and her older sister shared Buffy for Dog 4-H. Which neither really liked. So, we told our 8 yr old, if you try to walk we will get you your own 4-H dog. By Late summer she was walking - with a big limp, but walking. We made good on our promise. She wanted a Yorkie (there was one in our 4-H group). We found Angel, Karen's Angel II, named after our daughter. Karen and Angel went on to win many ribbons and trophys and even received State level winnings and Grand Champion in Showmanship at the local Fair.
Today Angel is 10 and retired. Buffy retired at the age of 13, came out of retirement for one more year, which she claimed Reserved Grand Champion in Showmanship that same year Angel won.
How cool to have both of our pups and our daughters, in the top of their class, even competing with one another. I will try to upload pictures.
I now groom them both myself after 2 bad experiences at two different groomers. At the age of 16, Buffy was attacked at the groomers by their German Shepard, required surgery and 40 staples. Much to our amazement she survived. Angel was injured, blew out her ACL. She was fine when to left her there, but was not walking on the leg after we picked her up from the groomer. She had surgery for repair of that knee.
My problem with grooming the Yorkie is the face. Anyone have suggestions as to the proper grooming of the face area. She has a full thick long coat with a beard and top notch.
Thank you in advance for any input any of you may have.
Sincerely,
Angels & Buffys Mom |
