It is kind of rare in dogs but can happen. Ellie's vet said the only time she remembers diagnosing it was having to do with dogs on medication for hypothyroid. Something to look at with hyperthyroidism in dogs is cancer.
It is always a good idea to check their thyroid, so it wouldn't be a bad thing to do even if your vet doesn't think that is the problem.
IBD can cause weight loss.
What is your vet saying if the probiotics and diet change don't work?
