elevated ALT (protein C? test) I am new to the forum - I was doing research since my puppy is having problems with elevated ALT and cont to get higher and they don't know why. she does not exhibit any symptoms and would not know there is anything wrong with her except we took her to be spayed and found this out when they did the blood test before spaying her.
My Yorkie is only 3# and she is almost 8 mo old and appears to be fine. We found elevated ALT when we first tried to spay her at 6 months. first time it was about 123 then retested couple weeks later and increased to 213 and he put her on some vitamins and after 2 weeks retested and she is now 260.
She has had the Bile Acid test and it was negative and Ultrasound that did not show anything. So I asked him about the Protein C test (that I saw on the forum) and he did not know what it is. Can you give me any more info where I can show him?
Is there another name for the Protein C test? My vet does not know what that is and I have not been able to find it on any web sites or info pages on this either.
I am wondering what should be our next step. He had mentioned we may have to do a biopsy. I want to know if anyone else has had this and what they did and what the results were as well. I will do whatever we need to do but want the least amount of trauma to her.
Thanks,
