Four pounds is very small to be breeding. It would scare me to death if I had one that small expecting. She may well be unable to deliver on her own. You should get an x-ray done at about 5 days before her due date to see how many puppies she has and if her pelvis has enough spread to deliver these babies. Even if things look o.k., the likelihood of her needing a c-section is high. She should absolutely not be left alone in her last week and make sure you have a vet available if the need arises. If you are uncomfortable at the prospect of her whelping, you may want to schedule the c-section and not expose your girl to the potential dangers of trying to whelp this litter. You may want to post this in the breeders' section to get more help. And please, have your girl spayed after this. She is too small to be a Mommy.
