I didn't realize it was back in July. I'm going to say never give up hope, but I don't know. Though crazier things have happened - someone may have seen them and taken them in as strays. Let the neighborhood know, maybe call a radio station, etc.
I'm so sad for you/your boyfriend. I wonder why they didn't tell him back when it happened.
