I would suggest calculating the number of calories in the recipe and finding a chart online showing how many calories per pound of dog is optimal. I would try to get as close to that as possible if there is no guideline iwth your recipe. Spayed and neutered pets may require about 30% less food. For Ellie's recipe, her nutritionist said she may need up to 50% more or 50% less. She was very skinny so I added 50%. She filled out and I didn't want her to keep gaining, so I cut back again. It is really trial and error. Ellie gets probably somewhere around a cup of food a day and she is 6 pounds. She is fed 3x daily. With the amount of food she needs, I think two meals would be too big for her and it is better for her health issues to feed less more often anyway.
