Odd, I don't think eating anything will change a dog's demeanor. Licorice isn't good for them, but it isn't really 'toxic'. Depending on how much they eat it can give them diaharra(sp?). Perhaps he had a stomach ache and/or gas built up and he was being "mean" because moving hurt him.
Did your husband give him the licorice? Perhaps he was mad at daddy for giving him the tummy ache.
