Spike got a little infection around his neutering site and was on antibiotics. I could tell it was infected though, because it was red and inflamed and he was lethargic and unwell. If you puppy doesn't have any of these symptoms, then I'm sure he's healing normally.

I'm not sure about vitamin E oil, but when Spike had his infection, I put Germolene on it, which is an (human use) antiseptic cream with a local anesthetic in it. You can only buy it in Britain I think, but the North American equivalent would be something like Polysporin or Ozonol. Although they are meant for human use, my vet said that they would work for Spike's skin infections, too. If you can get one with local anesthetic, that should help with the itching!
