I am so sad for little one and mom and sorry I was not online earlier to help. You may have tried this but one thing to keep at hand during whelping is a feeding tube attached to a syringe, fill the syringe with KY jelly and insert the feeding tube along side the stuck puppy and hopefully sort of behind and to the side of it, then squirt in the KY. Can help a lot to get out the pup esp. If it is in a place where you can get a hold of it (probably with a washcloth for traction). Just an idea for the future if you didn't try it.
I lost a singleton this spring to early placental separation which required an ER section, so I know what you are going through with mom. I gave my Fancy two small toys to act as surrogate puppies and it helped her, after about 2 weeks she stopped carrying one and then a week later gave up on the other and was back to her normal self. |
