Hot Rod and Maggie are 3.7 lbs and 3.0 lbs respectively. I have been feeding a total of 1/2 cup daily to each and they never finish it up. I just asked the vet yesterday about this and she said that they may only need 1/3 cup all day each.
I know their stomachs are small but that just sounds like such a small amount of food. I realize that treats play into the total. What amounts do you feed your yorkies? |
That sounds about right to me, my 5 month old puppy is a little under 3 pounds and he eats about 1/4 to a 1/3 cup of food a day + treats. His treats are small as well, when i first brought him home he seemed to like my Cat's food a lot and since at first he was not eating my Vet recommended blending some of the cat food with his food now he just eats his food but i give him a morsel of cat food as his treat.
