Last time the vet drew blood from my little Zoe they took her into the back and drew it from her jugular also. I think it is because with the yorkies the veins in their little legs are so tiny so it is much quicker and easier to draw blood from the jugular.
The pinkness is probably just a little bruising/irritaion it should go away within a day or two, but extra cuddling and treats never hurt..lol
