Both of them are still un-neuteured today. Charlie is not neutered because he had a very bad reaction to the anaesthetic, during my vets routine pre-op test.
Izzy is supposed to have hers next week, the schedule was set as per my vets suggestion.
So i took Izzy to her per-neuter check-up earlier today, and to my surprise, my vet told me she was pregnant!!! i was shocked, as she never showed signs of being in heat!!! Did your vet tell you approximately how far along she is? If you saw no signs of being in heat, then it would be hard to know when she is due to whelp. Did your vet palpitate and feel the pups, or did he do an xray.....ultrasound????
I need all the help i can get, is there any web resources that i should look at? What should i do? what to expect? The website given in the previous reply is my favorite and gives you just about all the written information you could need.
I'm in serious shock and panic mode at the moment. this is completely new, i am completely unprepared. and i really don't know what to do.
I mean one of the reasons i didn't want to breed to begin with is i don't have the time to take care of the whelping etc. i work 16 hours daily and travel frequently. I sure hope you have some vacation time available; a yorkie should not be left alone to whelp, especially one so young. If you cannot be there with her, you will need to find someone who can, pre-labor, during labor, and afterwards to monitor both mom and the pups to ensure mom is doing well and the pups are gaining as they should.
Please someone help me....... | Good luck to you.....PLEASE keep us informed. I posted this, then saw the post from phfgkl.......it IS an option to have your female spayed now....in effect, aborting the pregnancy. If you truely have no time to get your female through this, then this may be, sadly, the best option for you.
