I just looked it up and Lexi went to the groomers for the first time when she was 6 months. It was at the vet and she spent hours in the cage and I later found out that they sedated her (without asking!!!). I'd much rather have given her the experience you're going to give your furbaby.

In my opinion...5 months is old enough. If it makes you feel better, why don't you make the FIRST trip half of a regular appt. Only get done what needs to get done and only leave her for 1/2 the time you normally would. This will help you get through the first time and help acclimate her to the new experience. Just a thought.
