If traveling is such an issue and you do long trips, I would talk with the vet and maybe get some sort of sedative. I know when we moved and took the cats, my vet recommended childrens benedryl. My girlfriend gave her cat something that really knocked her out for a good 4-5 hours (we had a 10 hour car ride).

Have you thought about trying a snoozer type of car seat where Mia can be strapped in and still look out the window? At least you know she will be safe when she is in the car. Good luck.
