I wouldn't let your experience with one rescue organization form your opinion of all rescues.

I know our adoption process to some, probably seems lengthy and intrusive. But we have to be as certain as possible our dogs are going into the best home for them and are the best fit with the specific owners. Many of these dogs lives have been unpleasant at best and the last thing they need is to be further traumatized by being placed in a situation that isn't best for them.
