I'm a groomer and have found one of the best products on the market for matts is "Cowboy Magic". They have an entire line of shampoos and conditioner's, plus detanglers. The detangler works great. Matts will slide right out with a little bit of combing. Use a pin brush first after applying the dematter, then use a metal, wide tooth comb afterwards. Never brush a dry coat. Use a little conditioning hair conditioner spray to dampen coat before touch up brushing. Brushing a dry coat will cause it to break off.
