Teddy does the digging affect with his front paws when he wants something, if your sitting on the couch he will come and paw your legs if this get no results he will then walk on the back of the couch and paw your hair. It's hard to know if he wants to be held or if he needs to go out, or if he just looking for a treat, he will also do this if the J.R. has one of his toys and she wont let him have it, if I pick him up thinking he wants to be held and he doesn't he will nip me and jump down. you almost have to be a mind reader.
