I remember reading somewhere that originally yorkies were larger between 10 and 20 pounds if I remember correctly. That makes sense as they would be used to keep vermin out. For those of you who have seen rats just imagine one next to the size of your babies. Heck I think some rats are probably bigger than my littlest yorkie. The older yorkies were bred to be sturdy, tenacious and loving dogs! We can still see that little tenacious attitude in our yorkies today. Big or small, a yorkie is a great dog to own.
