I too have a rescue, Ivy is about 5? (puppy mill so I don't know) but I have found that she does better when I got another dog. Also I try to take her out with people ,craft fairs, camping, that kind of things. But I don't think she will ever act like a dog that had a good beginning. So we may just have to live with it and just understand and love them even more.
