WHAT DOES "BUMP" MEAN???

I've been using computers since they hit the market but not the internet and there are a lot these things I just don't get. It's taken me weeks and weeks to figure out what LOL means. There are so many of these "expressions" I don't know, but this "bump" seems important. What does it mean?/do?
