I would say up until a year. If he is 5 months you still have teething ahead of you and some dogs chew A LOT!!! But it's so funny when they loose all their teeth! And Layla was up 3 times a night until she was 8 months- and had separation anxiety when I left the house until she was a year... but since then its been smooth sailing!
