I cant thank all of you enough for all of the wonderful comments and support! He is doing great, has stopped the "startled" look in his eyes every time a loud commercial comes on or some other loud noise. He now watches every move I make but is becoming comfortable enough to stay in the chair, bed or wherever he happens to be when I leave him for a moment. I took him outside for a while today and we ran and ran. I wish all of you could of seen him running so happily and free. He seems truly at peace now and I am so very excited as I realize this is only the beginning of seeing all this precious boy has to offer. He has put on weight and now his backbone is not the first thing you feel when petting him. Its only been about three weeks and I am amazed at his transition.
He has had two "accidents" in the house, but always seem to be very close to the door. I cleaned it up out of his view, and he does make a genuine effort to do his business outside. I am positive he will find his way and understand all of the ins and outs of our home. This will take some time as any new home has to seem huge to such a small guy.
For all of you considering adoption, I have no regrets at all. I do realize we were extremely lucky getting him at a year old, as a home pull instead of breeding farm. He also was not at the rescue long. But the trust is coming fast and I have to believe any animal deserves a chance. Purebred yorkie or not, they all are special!
My husband adores him (Addison quickly won him over) and now I catch him laying with my husband. I was very glad to see this as I was concerned with his abusive history Addison may harbor fears yet. Not so with us, thank goodness.
