I know a lot of breeders that will ONLY do AI with their dogs. They don't want to risk their studs getting hurt or coming into contact with other things the female could carry. Plus if they are far away it can be much easier than sending your female away.
I have done AI once and resulted in two healthy puppies! The male was just way overexcited so this was the only way. I would MUCH rather have a natural breeding if possible.
