Deep Throat

Gus constantly picks up wood chips, and small sticks when I walk him outside. He chews them for a while, and I suspect that unless I remove them from his mouth, he swallows them. I don't like the chewing, and the swallowing can't be good.
At first, I would open his mouth, reach in, feel around, and I wouldn't find anything. Then, I'd notice him chewing. So, somehow I missed it. Reach in again, etc. I finally discovered that I need to reach far back in his mouth, further than seems "natural", and I find the chip way back near or in his throat.
