Chester has anal gland issues, and has to have them expressed every few months. I have to have food that is higher in fiber that can make a difference. I dont think all dogs express them and if it does not happen they can have serious issues if they are not expressed. My girlfriend once had her pom and her dog did not get them expressed and had to have them removed, because they got so full.
