This happened to my Yorki too. When I brought her home (at 9 weeks) she was coughing for weeks , so much she would wake me up at night and I would be scared she will suffocate. I went to the vet 3 times and they said it was all good since she was eating and playing. The 4 th time I saw a great vet and he told me that there is just two things to do - give her antibiotics and wait or put her under anaesthetic and check in her throat , risking her dying , since Yorks are very sensitive to anaesthetic and one risk their life every time. So I gave her antibiotics, it didnt really help. She kept coughing.
Then I moved. Used to live in the very center of London - which mean the pollution was terrible and went to Sweden where the air is very clean. A week later her cough was all gone and never came back. I do think it had something to do with it.
I have very sensitive throat and airways and I would feel the pollution in London irritating my throat and airways as well. Hope it can help |
