I haven't been on in awhile because life here has been very hectic!! Izzy had her babies (3 of them; 2 boys, 1 girl) on October 30th and since Izzy's vulva was sooo small, my breeder had to deliver all the puppies and we almost lost all babies and mommy.
I should also say they were not that big; one boy was 4.5 oz, and that's the smallest, the biggest being 5.5 oz. It's been a horrible ordeal.
I've had every possible problem, you just couldn't believe. I've been on the phone with vets at 3am more than I can count just trying to "fix'" my baby. My questions are these, Izzy has low calcium, low blood sugar, low milk supply, doesn't have any interest in eating, and all of that's all very hard on my girl as it would be on any dog. To help her I'm giving her cal-sorb, which she throws up, Nutrical-which "so-far" we haven't had to much of a problem, ckn baby food, ckn, cottage cheese, beef boulion, peanut butter, corn syrup, honey, oh you name it, it's been given to her. Please, if anyone has any suggestions to help her eat (what to eat, how many times to feed her..etc), bring up her blood sugar (any home remedies), increase her milk supply (my vet said, "she doesn't advise beer..why?...who knows?
), and calcium (she will not eat the cheese out of the cottage cheese, no vanilla yogurt but anything else???), I would be so eternally thankful.
The only way I'm getting through all of this is with lots and lots of prayer. By the way, Izzy's puppies are growing and doing really well, it's their mommy I'm worried about. Any help, I would really really appreciate. Thank you so much.
Oh and when can I give her a bath, my vet said not to do it cause it might introduce an infection; but she's filthy and sponge bathing isn't cutting it anymore. Thank you so much.
