About six months later he got another bad bout of the gastroenteritis, and each time after he suffered from this, my vet put him om Hills Science Diet I/D canned food. until he could tolerate hard food again. After the last time, I asked the vet if I could just keep him on it and he said Absolutely. I got a prescription, and ever since, that is all he eats twice a day. He has not been sick a day since....he loves it and I heat it a little bit straight out of the fridge. He also eats 1/2 of a Hills natural treat when he gets a treat (I cut them in a half because they are kind of big). I have a happy, healthy, shiny baby since finding this food for him. The problem with Yorkies is they have tender systems, and when his vet told me if he keeps getting these bad bouts, it could cause him to have diabetes. I am willing to pay a little more to keep my baby safe....it is about $21 for 12 cans at PetSmart..... |
I completely understand. I went through similar issues with two of mine with many different brands of food. Chicken Soup would be my first choice food to feed mine IF they could eat it, but they can't. Sometimes the 'best quality' food is not always the 'best option' for every dog.
