Hi! Moves can be very stressful for these little ones. Some take it better then others, just depending on their personalities.

We got Boo at 5 yrs old and it took him a few days to settle in and about 1 year to start really relaxing. Now granted he was a rescue and had some issues due to that, but he is a cautious boy and always does better if given time to study something out first.

Gracie Ruth came to us when she was 12 weeks old and has only had 2 or 3 instances of being timid about something. To her, everyone is a joy to meet and everything is an adventure to have. We are blessed that her upbringing for her first 12 weeks was so positive (Thanks Lissette!!!) and that her personality is so outgoing. I've been very careful to continue the great beginning that Lissette started by making sure that all new situations are positive and that she always feels safe and protected.

Is the roommate new as well as the home? Are their other new pets in the home now? Are their other pets missing that were there before? Do you notice if it is noisier?

Walks always seem to help my kids adjust to new surroundings. Just be very aware of whats going on around you so that no strange dogs/people come up and startle him. I also start them out with brief trips to local pet stores, home improvement stores, car rides, to help them see new sights, and show them that the new place we come back to is 'home'. Lots of loving, treats, praise, gentle talk, hugs and play will probably help the most. Does he have that special food that he just loves? Try jump starting his appetite with a bite or 2. I also find good luck in hand feeding when they are off their food. I usually sit by their bowl and hand them a piece or 2 and just talk softly and spend some time with them while they eat.

As for the camping trip, I'm not sure I'd take him acting as stressed as he is unless you know that he loves the outdoors then it might be a good distraction. However, if you don't take him, who will be watching him? Leaving him with someone else right now may do more harm then taking him with you. How's that for a wishy-washy answer?

Sorry this got so long, if you've made it this far you are a saint! You didn't say where you moved from, I live in Allen also, Gracie Ruth is 9 months old if you'd ever like to meetup, go for a walk, need a GREAT vet, have questions about were to find the best ??? please feel free to pm me. I love getting with other Yorkie people.
