The carrier has a flat bottom. There are no holes for the legs to stick out. There is a strap and hook inside so you can keep you dog from jumping out. There is plenty of room for a dog to sit and peek out the top. There are mesh pockets on sides for water bottles, etc. This is really nice when you are in a crowded place and then you don't have to worry about your furbaby being stepped on. It is the front style, so you can still put your arms under your dog to calm them and cuddle while giving your arms a break from some of the weight.
