Sully doesn't physically beg.....just with his eyes....and the rule still IS "no people food whatsoever" but, it has been known to "acccidentally" get dropped on the floor from time to time.
My cat also gets premium food now. I was giving her pretty good food, but like you, once I read things on here, now only the best of the best will do.
Sully was very strictly in his crate during his training period. Now that he's fully housebroken, we took his crate apart. and bought him pillows to sleep on instead. Well, we let our friends borrow our crate for a while for their puppy and when they returned it to us, Sully woudn't come out! I realized that that was HIS HOUSE and how dare I take it apart again. So, we still have his little house together and he loves spending time in there.
I'm sure there are other rules like you said but I'll have to think on it for a few more mins.
