Default Recuperating from surgery w/active pup

Hi all. This is my first post and I'm in need of some advice. I just had double surgery and I'm in for 5 weeks of recovery. I have a three month old puppy who just came home yesterday and I'm at a loss as to how to decide she needs to go outside to do her business and when she just wants to go outside and play. I've taken her out four times in the past 30 minutes and she finally did something this last time.

The problem is, every time I pick her up and set her down, it pulls on both surgical sites. I doubt it's doing any damage, but I gotta tell ya, it sure doesn't feel very good.

Is there any hard and fast rule or even a guideline or two about how often a little one ought to be taken out so I know when I can ignore her, or if I can ignore her? I know how hard these little guys are to housebreak and I don't want to undo the progress that's been made so far in that department. Thanks again, Ladylaw.....
