The reason I ask, is because I've seen so many cases like this on the court shows.
If you don't have permission or the basement doesn't have a certificate to be leased, you could be asking for trouble down the road.

Oh yea! It was actually his idea. He didn't want to find a new tenet and was freaking out so he asked us to stay and just rent the basement.
